From KMOV4: Signs in protest are popping up all over Sunset Hills.
Neighbors are fighting a proposed development that would sit along south Lindbergh, between Lincoln Drive and Robyn Road. But neighbors say they are not only worried about the current project, but rather, they are concerned about what could happen after.
There are 100 signs that read “NO CLUSTER HOMES. KEEP SUNSET HILLS BEAUTIFUL” posted throughout the Sunset Hills neighborhood.
Laura Ludwig has a sign in her yard. As a real estate agent herself, she picked this neighborhood for a reason.
“We lived in the city but just wanted to get out where you have a little more room, where the neighbors aren’t right on top of each other, where you still know all your neighbors but it’s not so congested,” said Ludwig.
She is one of many worried the proposed development across the road from her house would change that.
Developer Fisher & Frichtel has submitted plans to turn three lots into a 12-home “luxury villa community that allows families who are ready to move from their larger estate home to a new community with ‘high quality’ villas on common maintained property,” according to paperwork filed with the city.
Currently, a single home occupies one of the lots, with a pond and open land on the other two.
“If you look around, the houses all look different. There are rolling hills, lots of wooded lots,” said Cathy Friedmann, who is opposed to the development. “Every day, I drive down Lindbergh, I look at the nice wide lots and beautiful homes. And every time I drive down Manchester I think, ‘I couldn’t stand to live here.’ I don’t want to see Lindbergh turn into Manchester.”
