From First Alert 4: The plan to slow down traffic and hopefully prevent crashes on Grand Boulevard involves lane reduction, more crosswalks and protected bike lanes.
It’s all part of the city’s nearly $46 million investment into traffic safety improvements along several main thoroughfares including Kingshighway, Grand, Jefferson, Union, Goodfellow and Broadway.
The design for Grand spans from the city’s northside at Hall Street to the city’s southside at Holly Hills.
“A lot of the improvements in this corridor are aimed at slowing vehicles down, reducing excessive speeding, reducing four-lane usage,” said Scott Ogilvie with St. Louis City Complete Streets.

Construction is set to begin in 2025.
