From St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Shake Shack is planning to open its second St. Louis-area location in the Ladue Crossing Shopping Center, a city official confirmed.
As first reported in the St. Louis Business Journal, the New York-based burger chain plans to open in the former Pei Wei at 8885 Ladue Road, near Interstate 170.
The chain’s founder, Danny Meyer, grew up in St. Louis before moving to New York to open the iconic Union Square Cafe and later to take over the Michelin-starred Gramercy Tavern. The first Shake Shack opened in 2004 in Gotham’s Madison Square Park. Shake Shack opened its first St. Louis location in December 2017 at 60 North Euclid Avenue in the Central West End. It now has 235 locations worldwide.
Ladue’s Architectural Review Board granted approval for the project, which includes a 1,000-square-foot outdoor patio, but the plans still require approval from the building commissioner before construction can begin, said Matt Wolfe, chairman of the architectural review board.
