From St. Louis Post-Dispatch:  Many primary and secondary private schools in the St. Louis region are heading into 2017 with a construction project in the works.

The projects include athletic facilities and science, technology, engineering and math buildings to media room buildouts and classroom expansions.

We reached out to those schools for an update about the ongoing work on their campus.

Cor Jesu Academy

Cor Jesu Academy began construction of the 39,400-square-foot, three-level performance gymnasium and student commons in June 2016 as part of the school’s long-range campus enhancement plan. This innovative new space gives Cor Jesu the opportunity to add new course offerings and state-of-the-art learning, while also growing the school’s sports programs. The project is being funded by a $10 million capital campaign launched in 2014 to provide a range of new facilities, site improvements, including expanded parking and plans for a new chapel, and more financial aid for qualifying students. The new performance gymnasium, which will also provide opportunities for the school to partner with the Catholic community in hosting events, will feature two full courts on the first floor with features conducive to basketball and volleyball competition, along with permanent bleachers and expanded weight and workout rooms. The second floor will feature a new dance studio-multipurpose room, student commons and athletic offices. Four new specialized, state-of-the-art classrooms will be on the third floor. The new student commons will be built in the open space between the new addition and the existing school building and will overlook the new gymnasium. This space will be a designated community area for students to gather, meet with faculty and provide study areas. The campus enhancement plan also includes a reconfigured driveway and pick-up/drop-off lane, as well as expanded parking areas totaling 120 new spaces.
