From First Alert 4: Several neighborhoods in St. Louis saw population growth despite overall population loss again for the city.
The latest data shows roughly 280,000 residents live in the City of St. Louis. Down from roughly 300,000 in 2020.
In 2020, roughly 26,000 people lived in the Central West End, Midtown, Downtown West and Downtown neighborhoods in the city. Now roughly 30,000 people live in the area, after a 13% population increase, according to Greater St. Louis Inc and U.S. Census data.
“We’re in the middle of a renaissance here in St. Louis,” said Catherine Neville, Vice President of Communications for Explore St. Louis. “It seems like every few months, we’re hearing about these big new developments and investments in St. Louis.”
Neville told First Alert 4 that some of the biggest drivers behind the growth are entertainment venues. Examples include The Foundry, Top Golf, CITYPARK, and The Armory.
“We are seeing developers investing in larger places that are really turning into these like inflection points for the region,” she added.
