From Mid Rivers Newsmagazine:  At its Jan. 23 meeting, the O’Fallon City Council approved two resolutions for city infrastructure and equipment.

First, the council authorized a construction contract with ICS Construction Services LTD. for a new public works and city vehicle fleet facility. The vote on this resolution was 9-0, with council member Nathan Bibb (Ward 3) recusing himself.

The new facility will house 81 employees in the Public Works Department and nine employees in the Fleet Maintenance Division. Two main buildings will be constructed with a combined square footage of close to 60,000 square feet. The project also includes a new salt storage facility, a fueling station, canopies to protect equipment from the weather and a truck wash bay.

The budget for this project is $30 million. With the bid coming in at $28.2M, there is room for additional items that will be contracted out separately. Items that will be contracted out later in the year include furniture, signage, IT, security, materials testing and construction management.
