From St. Louis/Southern Illinois Labor Tribune: There are several events planned to commemorate National Women in Construction Week, which begins March 2.
The week celebrates and promotes the role of women in the construction industry. The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) held the first WIC Week in 1998, and it has grown and expanded each year since. Many local chapters hold WIC Week events, which can include making presentations to high school classes, job site tours and luncheons.
This year’s theme, ‘Together We Rise’, celebrates the strength and knowledge of women and the vital role they play in shaping the future of the construction industry.
EVENTS
Three events are being hosted by the St. Louis Chapter of NAWIC. They include:
- March 3 – Kick Off Breakfast and Book Exchange from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Clayco at 8640 Evans Ave in St. Louis. Women are asked to bring a book that has impacted their life or career to exchange with another attendee and will be invited to share about the book during the meeting. To sign up, email Stephanie Anderson at sanderson@waidb.com.
