From West Newsmagazine:  A microbrewery and a sit-down restaurant were approved for the site of the West County Feed and Supply Store at the southwest corner of Manchester Road and West Avenue, near Hwy. 109. This will be the fifth Good News Brewing Company location in the region.

The 4,000-square-foot building, including a greenhouse area, will remain on the three-acre property.

Storage of all materials will be in approved containers or within a building structure, and the walk-in cooler must be placed to the south of the existing building.

In an effort to keep sounds confined to the commercial area, a proposed stage for the development needs to be placed along the eastern boundary of the site, with the performance area facing the southwest, Vujnich said. Outdoor sound curtains or comparable materials must be provided on at least three sides to eliminate spillage of music from the performance area.

Initially, music was only to be allowed on Friday and Saturday nights from 6-9 p.m., but the owner requested some latitude with regards to the hours, Vujnich said.

The owner requested music and outdoor games be allowed to run from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, from 2-9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday music performances from 2-4 p.m.

Not all council members were in favor of the proposed changes.

“This is to me, in order of magnitude, quite an expansion to what the plan was, which I thought was very sensitive to surrounding neighbors,” said Bob Mabry (Ward 2). “The fell swoop of Wednesday through Sunday of anything…that’s disconcerting to me.”
