McCarthy Building Companies hosted Engineering and Construction Day at St. Louis Children’s Hospital as part of the hospital’s annual STEM Week, giving young patients and their families an opportunity to explore construction through hands-on activities.
McCarthy distributed 110 STEM Week bags, with the remaining bags quickly delivered to newly admitted patients throughout the week. Twenty-seven children and 28 adults participated in construction-themed activities in The Zone, the hospital’s play and activity area.

McCarthy participants included Gwen Arenberg, Tom Colyer, Jake Drallmeier, Jenn Garnatz, Trent Gherardini, Felicia Godier, summer intern Conner Jochum, Sydney McDermott, Danielle Pipitone and Erin Valentine.
The day also included BINGO for children attending in person and patients participating from their rooms. Twenty-three prizes were awarded. In all, the program generated 55 interactions with children and family members.
