From STL Today : Laclede Group’s long search for a new headquarters is down to three potential locations, including the architecturally significant General American building.
The six-story structure, opened in 1976, is the only St. Louis building designed by Philip Johnson, among the most acclaimed 20th-century American architects. Johnson’s design is essentially a three-story glass box of nearly 130,000 square feet. As if slicing a sandwich, he divided the building diagonally, then perched half of it on columns over a plaza.
