IBEW Local 1 Veterans Committee Brightens O’Fallon VFW Post

From St. Louis/Southern Illinois Labor Tribune: Members of the IBEW Local 1 Veterans Committee recently volunteered their time and efforts toward making VFW Post 5077 a little brighter by retrofitting the older building’s lights.
A group of about 10 IBEW Local 1 volunteers teamed up at the hall at 8500 Veterans Memorial Parkway on May 10 to update the hall’s old lights.
IBEW Local 1 signatory contractors Bell Electrical Contractors, Hanenkamp Electric Company, TD4 Electrical and Liberty Electric, Inc. donated ladders for the morning-long event.
IBEW Local 1 Business Representative Tim Cleveland, a Navy veteran, chairs the Local 1 Veteran’s Committee, which provided the new lights. He said many IBEW Local 1 members are also members of the post.
‘VETERANS HELPING VETERANS’
“The post reached out to us for help, and we got together and got these new lamps and brightened up their world again,” Cleveland said. “We are retrofitting all the old T-12 fixtures to new LED so they’re more autonomous. It’s veterans helping veterans. We constantly want to be helping our people who stood before us.”
