From Lincoln News Now:  Local motorists would be well advised to avoid the Highway 47 bridge in Troy next weekend as a portion of it will be demolished as part of Phase Two of the new diamond interchange being constructed there.

According to Missouri Department of Transportation District Engineer Jeff Niemeyer, the bridge over U.S. Route 61 will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 through 10 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 29 as crews remove the north portion of the bridge.

As a result of the construction, U.S. 61 will also be reduced to one lane in each direction and traffic will be rerouted over the on/off ramps at the interchange. Traffic movements from U.S. 61 to Highway 47 at the ramp terminals will be restricted to right turns only.

During the closure, a signed detour will divert traffic on the following routes:

  • MO 47 (Eastbound/Westbound) will use a signed detour over East Cherry Street to South Lincoln Drive then northbound to MO 47 or southbound to the South Lincoln Drive interchange. Travelers wishing to access U.S. 61 from MO 47 will utilize this detour;
  • U.S. 61 (Northbound) to MO 47 (Westbound toward Hawk Point) will utilize the South Lincoln Drive interchange to reach MO 47;
  • U.S. 61 (Northbound/Southbound) traffic will be diverted up and over the existing interchange ramps;
  • The U.S. 61 (Northbound) on-ramp at Old Cap Au Gris Road will be closed to traffic.
