From STLToday: HBD Construction completed work as the general contractor for Wings of Hope’s new 10,000-square-foot hangar and office. Wings of Hope, a St. Louis, MO based charity, hired HBD as the general contractor and Chiodini & Associates as the project architect to build the new addition which is expected to house and maintain 8 additional planes and 10 additional Volunteer staff.
“We truly couldn’t be more excited to have successfully completed this project for such an incredible organization,” said HBD’s COO and project manager, Brian Kowert. “It was an honor and privilege for HBD to work with this Nobel Peace Prize nominated organization.”
The current Wings of Hope facility remained in operation while HBD provided project oversight and supervision, ordering materials, pouring concrete for structural foundations, carpentry, and general labor and construction services. HBD faced a number of unique logistical challenges working around an in-use hangarwith planes arriving and departing and a full maintenance department working to keep Wings of Hope operational. Another unique aspect to this project was the installation of an 80-foot wide hangar door. Read more.
