From St. Louis Post-Dispatch:  Construction is set to begin this summer on a small park near Powell Hall and the Grand Center Arts Academy in the Grand Center arts district in St. Louis.

The 14,000-square foot park — to be called Arts Academy Plaza — is a Grand Center project designed by Forum Studio of St. Louis and Land Collective, based in Philadelphia. Completion of the nearly $1 million project is expected in December.

Arts Academy Plaza will be on land at North Grand Boulevard and Grandel Square. Park design includes seating terraces and a small amphitheater.

Another feature will be the rabbit statue that will be moved from the park across Clark Avenue from the Scottrade Center downtown.

Known formally as Nijinski Hare, the bronze sculpture by Barry Flanagan is—according to Grand Center—”a playful interpretation of the famous Russian ballet dancer Vaslav Nijinsky.” It’s on loan to the new park from the Gateway Foundation, the force behind the Citygarden sculpture park downtown.
