Glaziers Local 513 Members, Contractor Replace Windows at Elsberry Food Pantry

From St. Louis/Southern Illinois Labor Tribune: Mary Kellett volunteers for Care Service of Sts. Joachim & Ann at the Elsberry United Methodist Church’s (UMC) food pantry every two weeks and noticed that three of the historic building’s windows were boarded up.
Kellett wondered if there was any way Labor could step up and help the church replace the vandalized windows and asked her husband Pat Kellett, former president of the St. Louis Labor Council and retired member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 562, if he had any ideas.
‘KNEW JUST WHO TO CALL’
“I knew just who to call to get the job rolling,” said Pat Kellett. “Brian Steins, who served as financial secretary of Glaziers Local 513 for 25 years, has volunteered countless times in putting his skills to work whenever our community is in need. I’ve known him since high school, and he’s a good-hearted guy and smart, too.”
After receiving the call, Steins reached out one of his former apprentices Steve Killmade, who is now a shop superintendent at Local 513 signatory contractor STL Glazing. Killmade, who lives in Elsberry, agreed to lend a hand, and STL Glazing offered to donate some of the materials.
