From Mid Rivers Newsmagazine: Dardenne Prairie’s 2025 budget was approved at the Dec. 4 Board of Aldermen meeting.
Projected revenues for the year were $8.52 million, showing a projected 7% increase from 2024 to 2025 primarily due to additional revenue for court fines and grant funding for road projects. Sources of revenue include the following: general sales tax (1%), capital improvement sales tax (0.5%), motor fuel tax, property tax (9.69 cents per $100 assessed valuation), road & bridge tax, municipal court fines and parks & stormwater sales tax.
Estimated expenditures for 2025 are $8.85 million. This includes the following: debt service, personnel costs, the police department contract and road maintenance costs. City Administrator Cathy Pratt said this was a 15% decrease in overall spending due to hiring a city engineer, which reduces engineering costs and a decrease in capital spending.
Capital expenditures of note were Stump Road improvements for $894,524 and a town square overlay for $835,821. Improvements to Post Road will be implemented in two phases, costing $374,442 and $100,000 respectively. Pratt said “a significant portion of road project expenditures are grant-funded through MoDOT and the County Road Board with the city having only a 10%-20% cost share.”
