From St. Louis Business Journal: The newest Salt + Smoke location is under construction and expected to open soon.
The sixth location of the St. Louis-based barbecue restaurant chain will open at 4130 Rusty Road in south St. Louis County, in the nearly 7,000-square-foot former O’Charley’s Restaurant and Bar near Target and Costco.
Construction has been underway for about a month on the $1.5 million restaurant, and it’s not yet known exactly when that will finish, but it should be in the spring, members of the development team said.
Salt + Smoke owner Tom Schmidt said he and his team are “super excited” about opening in South County. The chain’s existing restaurants are in Ballpark Village in downtown St. Louis, its original location in the Delmar Loop, St. Charles, Hampton and its latest location that opened in Ellisville in west St. Louis County last year. The restaurant brand chose South County for its next location based on address data from its carryout ordering and delivery apps, which showed high interest from South County residents in food from Salt + Smoke.
“I think wrongly, South County gets kind of overlooked by a lot of local restaurants. And people south of us in Affton, this is where they go, people in Southern Illinois. It just reaches another part of the community that we’re really excited to be a part of,” Schmidt said.
