From St. Louis Business Journal: A plan to create a German village at the Millennium Hotel property was among the proposals considered for redevelopment of the vacant site downtown, with a pair of local developers involved in the bid.

Gateway Arch Park Foundation, which has the 4.2-acre Millennium Hotel property at 200 S. Fourth St. under contract to purchase, said Wednesday it selected The Cordish Cos. as the site’s redeveloper, unveiling a $670 million plan to remake the former hotel site. Cordish’s preliminary plan calls for more than 200,000 square feet of office space and over 600,000 square feet for residential use, as well as public spaces including an auditorium and food hall. The Millennium Hotel site has been vacant since 2014.

Gateway Arch Park Foundation, which serves as the conservancy for the nearby Gateway Arch National Park grounds and surrounding areas, said it received three qualified bids through a request for proposals but declined to share further details on the submissions that weren’t chosen. Officials involved in the selection process met with the parties behind the German village concept, said Evan Schick, who spearheaded the proposal. It’s unknown what other proposal was considered.
