BUD Grads “Speed Date” Contractors

A dual-purpose event that was part celebration, part employment speed dating was held for the second cohort of the Building Union Diversity (BUD) program participants last Thursday at the Construction Training School from noon to 2 p.m..
The event included both a class graduation and a networking session to allow potential employers to meet the graduates.
Representatives from a number of contractors participated, including Clayco, Inc.; McCarthy Building Companies, Inc.; Paric Corporation, icon Mechanical, and Rhodey Construction Co.
Jim Duane, BUD coordinator was the impetus behind the meet and greet. He said that the graduating class members expressed the following “first choice” trade preferences:
- Carpenter, 3
- Laborer, 5
- Operating Engineers, 2
- Insulators, 2
- Sheet Metal, 1
